GIVING IS RECEIVING

Besides learning English language skill, I spent days in around Wheaton, Illinois, United States to seek inspiration. It is more like the wise words saying: “collecting moments, not things.” Later, I jot down this great phrase: “Giving is Receiving”, following visit in four places. They are, Dollar Tree Store, Goodwill, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital and People’s Resource Center.

I appreciate many people and organizations who gave donations of various things for helped other people. The positive action is noble and bring happiness to people in need. And I am thinking that we have many ways to do something good for people. I like sharing my experience from some place that I visited. Continue reading “GIVING IS RECEIVING”

January 7th be My Blessed Sunday

Portrayed along with Sr. Gracella at Michigan Lake

January 7th be my blessed Sunday. It’s hard to explain with another phrase, I think.

The special day was begun by Eucharist celebration with PWKI, or Indonesian Catholic Community based in Chicago. Along with one of the member, Marine, I and Sr. Gracella left to Techny Towers Conference and Retreat Center.

PWKI held New Year Mass. Marine told us that Eucharist will be started at 10.30 a.m. Fiuhh, that is enough for rehearsal playing organ. Meanwhile, my partner in crime (ups… sorry), I mean partner in eucharist, Sr. Gracella tried to chant the Psalm.

The moment was awesome as we could talk with new Indonesian friends in Uncle Sam country. After mass, we all had lunch together. What a great day! Hehehe.

At 02.00 p.m., Monika and her husband, Stefanus took Sr. Gracella and me for a ride around the downtown in Chicago. To be honest, I never heard the city before. I was so amazed seeing skycrappers. We visited Field Museum of Natural History and Shedd Aquarium. What a great day! (again). Hehehehe. Continue reading “January 7th be My Blessed Sunday”

Everybody is Special!

Sr. Angela Siallagan tengah menjalani kursus bahasa Inggris di People’s Resource Center (USA). Amin.

There are four moviegoers. Perhaps, just like the four musketeers on a special mission. Melanie Teska, Fr. Philip, Sr. Gracella and I went to Regal Cinemas Cantera 17 & RPX. We left at 6.00 p.m from Lady of the Angel community.

I really enjoyed watching this “Greatest Showman” that inspiring me to write it in English article. Besides, I can learn literacy skill during the course in Uncle Sam state.

The movie – which starred Hugh Jackman (popularly known as a mutant named Logan) – tells low and high of circus entrepreneur life. It begins with Barnum’s childhood as a poor tailor son in Connecticut. He was grown up in a poor family. Through great efforts facing each challenge, Barnum later became famous and rich due to his successful circus performance.

Barnum is an ambitious man. His refuses an ordinary dream. On the contrary, to believe on “Million Dreams”, that he would make earth became a magical and awesome place. Then, Barnum carry out business on the American Museum in New York City. Continue reading “Everybody is Special!”
